Job Description

Alliance Lumber in Glendale, AZ is seeking an Estimator with Lumber Experience. If you don’t have Lumber experience, but you enjoy working as an estimator, apply!  We’ll expand your knowledge and your experience.  The Estimator will service Sales Staff by performing blueprint materials take-offs, materials estimating for residential, tracts and light to medium commercial building projects. Maintain bid log under the direction and supervision of Estimating Manager. All you need is your passion for Estimating and Excel to get started.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Perform timely and accurate blue-print take-offs using customer supplied blueprints. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and/or use of manual methods including use of a Scale-Master required.
  • Create accurate materials lists for sales Staff in a timely manner. Review and adjust bids on schedule as set by Estimating Manager.
  • Manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.
  • Provide technical knowledge and assistance to sales staff and Builder Clients. Maintain knowledge of local building trends and requirements.
  • Arrive at work location punctually and consistently on a daily basis.
  • Meet Company standards for quality and quantity of work.
  • Comply with all Company requirements for conduct and work behavior.
  • Demonstrate thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Maintain work areas according to Company standards.
  • Uphold and follow established safety procedures for all assignments and work environment.
  • Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required. Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

Your qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience of blueprint material.
  • Proficiency in use of Excel, including but not limited to V-Look up, Databases and Formulas.
  • Solid Math skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers.
  • Dedicated attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite. Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and detailed oriented.
  • Exemplary ethics, values, positive attitude that coincides with the need to want to learn and grown with the company.
  • Knowledge of large format printers and interfaces.

Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position hours are from 07:00 a.m. to 04:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Alliance Lumber’s Glendale yard has immediate openings for experienced forklift operators

Experience REQUIRED in lumber/building construction materials handling.

Job Duties:
• Operate a forklift to move material through facility as required.
• Provide materials and components to the picking line by physically moving them
from stock points along the line, off trailers, and from other storage areas.
• Actively communicate with supervisors and operators to effectively handle material
and notify them of problems/concerns. Use tools such as hammers and crowbars to remove strapping, open crates, strap cars.
• Work as a team when shipping and receiving rail cars and trailers
• Stacks skids or pallets in designated areas. Clean up and dispose of cardboard, and
strapping and place in proper containers or designated areas.
• Maintain a safe work environment and ensure that all company safety procedures
are followed to include OSHA compliance guidelines.
• Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.
